Developing Confident Problem Solvers
In Horizon Primary School, we seek to inspire curiosity, creativity, and critical thinking in our students through the power of STEM—Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics in our Science curriculum. STEM encourages problem-solving, collaboration, and communication, helping our students to explore the world around them while developing essential skills for the future.
By incorporating STEM into our curriculum, we also allow students to learn by connecting ideas and concepts across different disciplines and giving them time to integrate ideas from different perspectives and consider alternative ways of building knowledge as we empower them to become innovators, leaders, and critical thinkers of tomorrow.

Excellence 2000 Science Programme
The Excellence 2000 (E2K) Science Programme is implemented at Horizon Primary School to provide high-ability students with opportunities to engage in deep scientific inquiry. This enrichment programme challenges students to think and work like scientists, developing their critical questioning, problem-solving skills, and ability to generate knowledge through hands-on experimentation. Aligned with the core value of Excellence, the programme nurtures curiosity and inspires students to excel in understanding and exploring advanced scientific concepts.
The E2K Science Programme emphasises resilience and resourcefulness as students navigate authentic challenges in science. Recognising that mistakes are part of the learning process, participants are encouraged to persevere and reflect on their approaches, cultivating Integrity in their pursuit of solutions. Through collaborative investigations and discussions, students practice Compassion by supporting and learning from their peers. These skills prepare them to face future challenges with confidence and adaptability.
Through the structured activities and guided learning experiences of the E2K Science Programme, students develop essential 21st-century competencies, including critical and inventive thinking, effective communication, and teamwork. The programme fosters a Respect for diverse perspectives and encourages students to share their findings with clarity and confidence.
